Is there any way to separate bugs from other issue types

Question

Hello,

I'm new to Jira. I'd like to ask whether there is any way to separate bugs from other issue types. Ex: I want to have only User Stories and Tasks in the Board view and Backlog view while showing bugs in kind of an "bugs" section.

Is it possible with Jira cloud?

Thanks, @JOY for the clarification!

If your project is Next-Gen, you cannot have multiple boards or quick filters for the approach I described.  In that case, you might consider moving the bugs to a different project for management by a separate team and board.  (That smells like a bad idea to me, as it reduces the visibility to a health indicator of your product: defect arrival and closure rate.)

Please check your project type and then you can decide next steps.

In our workflow (for game development) we can postpone/skill bugs for next version, which means we don't need to fix all the bug but we need to finish all the tasks an user stories. Also, the QA team is sometimes not an internal team. So I only let they view the bugs only.

I prefer Next-gen though.

Yes, that is possible... I wonder why do you not want defects (bugs) listed in the backlog?  Are defects resolved outside of JIRA management?

Next thing, are you using a Classic project or Next-Gen?  If Classic, one solution approach would be:

* Have a board that only shows stories and tasks.  You can adjust your board filter to do this: project = myProject AND issueType IN (story, task) ORDER BY Rank
* Have a board that only shows bugs.  The filter for that board would be: project = myProject AND issueType = bug ORDER BY Rank
* Add a quick filter so you can show/hide bugs on the backlog.  That quick filter would be: issueType = bug

You can access your board filters from the right side of the backlog or board view, select the ... > Board settings > General > Filter.  Remember to set the share settings if you change your filter.
