Migrating comments from YouTrack to Jira

We are moving from YouTrack to Jira. How can I convert comments so that they look as normal JIRA comments?

Comments in YouTrack can be in Markdown syntax or in YouTrack custom syntax. I also can retrieve comments in HTML format (as it is shown on screen after processing syntax).

As I understand Jira also uses some custom syntax for comments.

Any ideas how to migrate comments?

Whilst I am not familiar with YouTrack and its formatting commands, Jira does support a markdown format for comments

I would approach this with a test run to see if the markdown from YouTrack is compatible with the Jira Markdown and if so then use one of the import options to bring across the comments. 

If the syntax is not compatible I would look to see if a parser can be built to convert between the two formats.
