How to combine two filters into one query.

I have 2 jiras that have different information but there is a custom field in one jira that links to the other jira. I need to create a dashboard that will display the data from both jiras in one report. I can create a custom filter for each report, but I have been unsuccessful in writing a query that will combine the two filters. Any direction would be appreciated.

Hey Brian,

Try creating two filters then combining the filters together. I did it like this:

project in (Apple, "Orange") AND filter = "apple filter" OR filter = "orange filter" ORDER BY priority DESC, issuetype DESC

2 jiras? Two separate instances or two separate projects? If it is projects then I would add to each one (project = xyz AND (query 1)) OR (project = abc AND (query 2))

If they are completely different systems/instances then you will have to add some major automation/coding.

Can you share the two filters?

Basically, if you want cards from both projects to show on one board, just update the board filter to include both projects. Something like:

Project in (ABC, DEF)

I just realized my question is not very clear. Let me tell you what I am trying to do. I have 2 types of epics (One where the developers work off of and hours are tracked/One for the business where the business value is tracked.) I have a custom field link between these two epics.

I need to be able to track all hours logged to developer epic with the business value that is populated in the business epic.

Epic A = Developer Hours (Epic A has a custom field to Epic
Epic B = Business Value
Dashboard = How many hours are logged to Business Values

I can export the data for both epics and create vlookups and pivot chart in excel, but I was trying to see if I can have this populated in a Jira Dashboard.

Hope that helps clear up what I am trying to do.

Robert, they are 2 separate projects. The problem is, I need one field from Project A and one field from Project B to create one output.

Is there more than one business value captured in Epic B? If so, how will you link the hours in A to value in B?

The business value in Epic B is from a custom field that is single select only.

However there can be multiple Epic As linked to one Epic B. But there can not be more than one matching the other way.

This is brilliant! I have a dashboard which uses multiple filters for specific criteria designed to classify stories in the sprint, yet once in a while stories pass through the filters and go undetected. I as able to create a filter to catch these stories by using all the filters in the dashboard:

project = apple AND sprint = 1234 AND filter != "apple filter 1" AND filter != "apple filter 2" ... AND filter != "apple filter n"

I then added a widget which uses the new filter to the dashboard so I can see which stories are passing through the other filters.
