How do I get to view tasks on the backlog board? Is there a view that needs to be changed?

I do not see a way to change the view on the board to show tasks, as well as the epics.  Is there a setting for the view that needs to be changed?

 

 

Tasks have been created but are not shown on the board currently.

Can you confirm if you are using a Classic board (Not Next-gen)?

If the answer to the question above is "yes", please allow me to bring you some concepts so we can confirm we are on the same page here and further troubleshoot the issue:

For an issue/task to be displayed in a Scrum/Kanban board, the following steps must be configured:

1. The board filter must include those tasks, so navigate to your board > ... > Board settings > General > click in edit filter query and check if the filter returns any tasks in the issue navigator page. If it does not return any issues, change the parameters of the filter to properly return it
   
2. If you are using a Kanban board, check in the same general tab if there are any sub-filter configured that might be removing the tasks from the view
3. Check under  Board settings > Columns if the statuses of your Task issues are properly mapped to your board columns, confirming that you don't have any status under the "Unmapped status" column.
4. Check if there are any swimlanes (Board settings > Swimlanes) or Quick filters (Board settings > Quick filters) that could be excluding the task issue type from the board

By default, Epics are not displayed as conventional issues in software boards. Since they represent a big amount fo work, Jira has a panel at the left side of the board to display the details of any Epics returned in the board filter:

If you are using a next-gen project instead of Classic, please provide us with a screenshot displaying your board view and any tasks you have in the same project so we can properly investigate further.
