Connecting 2 workflow in Kanban Board

Question

Hi Jira Community

Could any one connected 2 workflows in their Kanban Board? If yes how?

I have requirement to create following structures

Feature--> Epic --> US--> Tasks

Where Feature is mainly cover the functional aspect, Epic covers UseCase, Story Covers activity which needs to be covered as part of Usecase -- > Some cases I have tasks under US.

So I have created a Kanban Board 1 for Feature which needs to pass through various stages which will be used mainly for management and stakeholders. Where specific Workflow defined for this

Where Kanban board 2 is mainly for XFT members where they should able to move their cards with minimum stages.

But requirement is let us say XFT member completed all the tasks under US then can we have some kind of indication US is completed and similarly for EPIC when US completes and then Feature readiness.

It will be great support if you give some leads in addressing this requirement.

Hi @Mnjunath Karanth

It is very common requirement where you want to roll up status from stories to level above. I am assuming you are using links in Jira to have this hierarchy.

You would need to use an app like Structure to do that for you or you can use ScriptRunner for Jira.

You can have multiple workflows on your Kanban or Scrum board.

For my part, I use a simple workflow for "story, task, sub-task"  tickets and a more elaborate workflow for "BR and FR".

In my Kanban board I've created columns and  I associated the states of the two workflows to those columns. it shows me all types of tickets.

for example: the state "in progress" of the simple workflow and the states "to be approved, in the process of approval, in development" have been associated with the Kanban column "In progress" ... etc.

Hi @Mnjunath Karanth  - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You cannot have two different workflows attached to the same issue type in a workflow scheme. Which means you can't have two different workflows for the same issue type attached to a single project.
