Exporting issues under an Epic

Im using Epics within our roadmap and have a specific one that is essentially a snag list for teh client that they need to do.

Under that Epic I have Tasks and also Stories with subtasks underneath them.

I need to export specifically everything that is underneath that Epic which is to do or in progress so I can share it with the client since they do not have access to our Jira.

When I try to search and filter I get no issues found:

How do I export specific tasks, stories and subtasks underneath an Epic?

Switch to JQL and enter the following (replacing "[epic issue key]" the issue key of the epic in question):

key = [epic issue key] and "Epic Link" = [epic issue key] and parent = [epic issue key] and status in (In progress)

Then export the results.

Edit: I added something to filter on status. If you have any more statuses to include, just add them with a comma separator. The search window will suggest statuses and you can just click on them to include

Thanks Tony. Im not used to using JQL so Im missing something here with the formatting but I dont know what. I tried " marks as it suggested in a few different ways but still not getting an output?

Get rid of the brackets and that query should work. Made one other minor change to add quotes around the In Progress:

key = UB-48 and “Epic Link” = UB-48 and parent = UB-48 and status in (“In Progress”)

Hi Gary.

I think Tony's JQL has some problems, instead of using *and* you should use *or* (because there won't be issues that has the same key and epic link)

But even using *or* you won't get the subtasks underneath the stories linked with the epic. For that, you'll need to use subqueries, in cloud this is not available with out an add-on.

So, you install one, or maybe you could use two JQLs: the first could be:

key =  UB-48 or "Epic Link" =  UB-48

and the second one, something like this:

parent in (STORY-1, STORY-2, STORY-3)

where you'll have to list all stories filtered from the first JQL.

Thank you both for your help. I still couldn't get it to work so I have used a basic filter and then done some filtering with google sheets once I pulled it in there.

Just had to get the job done.
