How to properly filter dashboard gadget: Activity Stream

I am creating a dashboard for my team. We have a service account called "Automation For Jira." This account's action shows on our activity feed with a boatload of noise.

I've tried creating filters remove the "Automation For Jira" in multiple ways:

-First.Last

-firstlast

-first.last

-first last

-First Last

None of which seem to work. Any suggestions?

isn't there a filter available to build a "username IS NOT" filter in the gadget? Have you tried that?

Max, there is! However no matter how I enter the name (as I mentioned above) the filter never applies.

Every combination of the name that I've tried has failed to filter that user out of the feed.

I've played around a bit like you did and even tried the accountID and wasn't able to get it to work. Additional showed that you're not alone. I'll definitely have a closer look at this tonight again and keep you posted!

Glad to help! I spent quite some time looking for this as well...

I needed to block other add-ons' activity as well, and finally found a way to find all usernames:

Open the dashboard and make sure the "user" you want to block has at least one activity visible
Open Developer Tools in the Network tab
Force refresh the activity widget
Open the request (something like https://legiti.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/streams?maxResults=20&...)
Each line represents a feed item. Find one by your target user and scroll right until you find the <usr:username> tag - there's your culprit!
