User-installed apps - SSL problem

Hi,

I'm in the process of developing a Jira app. I can install it trough ngrok, but when I try to install directly from my domain I get an SSL error. I have B grade certificate, or self sign certificate (ngrok has A grade certificate).

Is there a way to use self sign or B grade certificate for development ?

Hey Adam, welcome to the Community!

If I understand correctly, you're developing an app for Jira Cloud and using ngrok to expose a locally-running service with a self-signed certificate.

Jira Cloud will only accept connections to services running with CA-signed trusted certificates. A quick way to check this is by using something like SSL Shopper's check tool against your URL and seeing if it comes back trusted.

In your case, here are some options to get connected:

• ngrok can do the TLS termination for you with a trusted certificate, if you are on the USD $10/month Pro plan
• serveo offers termination free , although at this moment it is offline
• The AWS free tier includes 750 hours of Elastic Load Balancer, which you could use to front-end your application using a free certificate from Let's Encrypt 
• Atlassian has a new service in Early Access where we host your application for you (and handle all the server/certificate infrastructure) - it's called Forge and you can sign up for the Early Access program here.

Hopefully this helps out with a direction for you to take. Getting everything set up to even get your code connected to Atlassian Cloud can be complicated, which is why we recently announced the Forge platform. If I can help out further, please let me know!
