Edit Remaining Estimate on New Issue Type

Question

Our team created a new Issue Type in Jira and most of the time when adding an Original Estimate the Remaining Estimate field gets updated as well. Occasionally, however, the Remaining Estimate field just sets to 0h and there's no way to edit it in the new OR old view - the field just doesn't exist.

Any idea how to get the Remaining Estimate field displaying on new Issue Types? Or alternate methods aside from using the old view to edit Remaining Estimate?

Thank you for the response - we actually use Tempo for time tracking and I know that's separate support so I'll submit a request with them to find a solution.

Thank you for reaching out.

The remaining estimate field is automatically calculated by default when you leave it blank in the issue creation, being the result of the original estimate minus the time logged on your issues.

That being said, the only thing that might be causing the remaining estimate to display a different value is that it was manually added in the issue creation. In that case, you can correct the remaining estimate on the worklog screen. These would be the steps:

- In your issue view, click to Log work

- Set the correct time remaining as you need, not necessarily logging any time
