Why are my Notifications for Watched tasks not showing up in web?

I have watched several tasks in Jira, but I don't get any notifications for them in the Watched tab of Notifications. I have Email notifications turned off, but I would like to get notifications in the Notifications panel if a comment thread is for the tasks I'm watching. How do I do this, or is this a bug?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Testing on my local environment, I was able to confirm that when we disable notifications on our profile, it won't show notifications on the "Watching" tab as well.

Based on that, I created a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:

• Show "Browser" notifications for watched issues even if notifications are disabled
