The permisssion to manage watchers does not work

Lena Fienhage

A user is not able to manage watchers of a Jira issue. I checked the permissions page andeverything looks fine. I also checked the "permission help". The user definetly is able to manage watchers.

Whenever the user tries to add a watcher, a message appears: "Something went wrong .. Reload page"

Can you please help us with this issue?

Hello Lena,

Sorry to hear you are facing this problem.

Please, try the following steps to troubleshoot why the user is not being able to add watchers although he has the manage watchers permission:

1 - Logged as a site-admin, navigate to JIRA Settings > System > Global permissions and Check if the user is added to any of the groups under the "Browse Users and Groups" permission

2 - Check if the user that he is trying to add as a watcher is currently able to access the issue. In fact, ask the user to access the issue and try to add himself as a watcher just to confirm he does not have any restriction

3 - Ask the user to try a different browser when trying to add a watcher

4 - Ask him to try to add the watcher using the old and new issue view, checking if the error happens in a specific view or in both.

5 - If the steps above didn't work, please let us know if any errors are returned in the developer console of your browser.

Also, let us know if you have any questions about the steps provided.
