How to assign Time In Status values to custom fields

Hi everyone ,

I am looking for ways to get time spent in spesific statuses within Jira Software(Cloud).

For example :

Time value spent in Open to cf[xxxxx]
Time spent in In Progress to cf[yyyyy]

I tried to enable Time in Status and [CHART] Time in Status fields but these fields does not takes value when i pull them from Google Sheets . I also can not get output from Time in Status Dashboard , all zero .

Can you please suggest a solution ?

i was able to solve this using jira rest api .

1) retrieved the issue list

2)got the changelogs for each issue

3)calculated time spent in each status based on status changes in changelog .

So dont need a field in jira anymore , running this script and writing result to my csv file .

The default time in status field is created to configure the Average Time In Status gadget, which displays the average of time status for a bunch issues in a chart as described in the documentation below:

- How to setup Average Time in Status Gadget

Now, if you want JIRA to display the time spent for each issue status in a list format, I suggest you to try a third-party plugin to achieve your need, like Time Reports:

Our team at OBSS created Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira app for this exact need. It is available for Jira Cloud, Server and Data Center.

Using Time in Status you can report how much time each issue spent on each status, each assignee or even each user group. (useful for calculating lead/cycle times and identifying bottlenecks in your process). You can also see the number of times each status or transition was used (very useful for inspecting things like reopen counts). You can also list the status entry/exit dates.

You can get sums or averages of those times, grouped by any issue field(s) you like.

You can produce reports based on the default 24/7 calendar or define your own business calendars with custom workdays and working hours.

All data can be exported as XLS, XLSX, CSV.

You can use Time in Status for Jira Cloud, this add-on will show you the time in status report by default right after opening the application. Of course, you can customize then what kind of report you want to generate:

Assignee Time
Average Time
Status Entrance Date
Time in Status per Date
Status Count
Transition Count

and filter the data by project, filter, report, label, sprint, and assignee (also by issue creation, update, and resolution date).

Moreover, you can view the report not only in a grid but also as charts (pie/bar/area) in the application and in the Issue View Panel.

You can extract reports in both excel and charts. Hope, this add-on will be a great solution for you.

You can use Status Time app. It generates status time report based on your working calendar.

This add-on lets monitor each status duration data and exclude not-working hours from the calculation with multi-calendar.
