Would like to have filter or sort option in table like that of Excel.

unfortunately, this is not possible by default or only very basic (sorting for example) and so requires the use of a third-party app. What I can highly recommend is the app Table Filter and Charts for Confluence by StiltSoft. Have been using it internally a lot and for our app documentation etc.. So if you really like to have advanced filters maybe give that a try. And make sure to have a look around on the Atlassian Marketplace as there are other apps available enhancing Confluence tables as well.

looking at the Atlassian marketplace and the offered free Confluence Cloud apps dealing with tables - No, I can't. You will have to make use of one of the available paid apps.
