Transitioning a parent task to 'ready for testing' when all subtasks are in done.

Hi

 

I am struggling to find an answer for this particular scenario. 

We want a task to have 2 sub tasks (Frontend task and Backend task) and when both of those subtasks have been put in done we would like the parent task to transition 'ready for testing' automatically. 

I can see the post functions for moving it in to done, but not another status which differs to that of the subtask. 

 

Does anyone know if this is possible. 

 

We have a cloud instance.

Hello Sam,

Unfortunately, JIRA does not have a post function that would move the parent issue to a determined status in case ALL its sub-tasks are in a determined status.

That been said, you can achieve the scenario you want by using a third-party add-on, like Automation Lite For JIRA.

Using the mentioned add-on, you can create a rule with the Related Issue Condition that would verify the status of all the related sub-tasks, transitioning the parent in case all its sub-tasks are in the desired status.

The rule can be configured like the screenshot below:

P.S: Since I don't have the status 'ready for testing' in my personal instance, the rule above has been configured to transition the parent to 'Done'.
