I want to be able to make some of our blog posts public. Is it possible to allow access to people who have no Confluence licence?
Thanks
Hello Ian,
Thank you for contacting us.
This is not an easy task. It's easier to leave one space in Confluence completely open to the public, and then keep your blog posts on that.
If this is what you'd like to do, your administrator must first turn on the global permission for anonymous access. Then, you would need to turn on anonymous access for the entire space:
The last step would then be to immediately lock down any other pages within the space that do not need to be public. Otherwise, everyone on the internet would be able to read it.
This is a lot of work, so if you do not want an entire space to be public and you don't want to have to restrict pages one at a time, then your other solution would be an add-on. Something like Publish Pro - Share Page - Link & Mail would be able to do that for you.
I hope that helps, but let me know if you have any questions about it.
Regards,
Shannon
Decided to try the first option and that will work for what we need
Thank you
You're welcome, Ian! Let me know if you have any trouble.
Edited to add: If you're going to go with the first route, your best bet is to make one space that will be only for blogposts, and then don't open up any of the other spaces. Otherwise, it's really a lot of work for you.
I hope that's clear!
Is this suggestion still the only way to make the blog pages public from a private space that has nearly all other pages set to private?
There's no other way on Confluence Cloud than to put public blog pages on a separate space where all pages are viewable by anonymous visitors?
