Next-gen Jira Software project & Roadmaps

I am a JIRA admin and I tried using the next-gen Jira Software projects and created roadmaps for one of the upcoming project.

I have 2 questions:

1) Is there extra cost associated with the using next-gen Jira Software project or Roadmap functionality in Jira?

2) Is there a way we could have an “Idea” portal so company employees or customers can enter their suggestions?

I have no additional cost using the next-gen Jira Software projects and created roadmaps in my instance of Jira Cloud.

As for an idea portal, the only thing I can think of is to create a new next-gen project and add employees and customers as members and use created tasks as ideas and/or suggestions. I would personally use service desk for external members.

Thanks alot Jason for the information and really like the notion of collecting ideas through creating a new project and adding customers as members. I will look into how that can be achieved.

however, a followup question on using next gen project. I created a test nextgen project, but i couldnt find a Scrum board and neither many of the Reports that I usually use for classic projects. Any suggestion on this?

When you first create the next-gen project, you have to choose between Kanban or Scrum board. Additionally, at the moment, reports are a con of using next-gen projects. There are currently only two possible reports. Atlassian is advertising that new reports will be coming soon. You can view this page to see what is upcoming for next-gen projects. Next-gen roadmap
