Bug tracking customization + other questions

Hello all! I've set up our JIRA to manage the tasks for the video game we're developing in a Kanban style.

We will be facilitating a lot of bug-tracking for the same game (the team will swap between each workstyle) but we don't want to manage this in a Kanban style, something like a list view (e.g the tool Sifter) is more useful. Given that, what is the best method to manage manage bug-tracking in JIRA? Defining some good filters for everyone to use?

My other questions...

1. Is there a way to organise/sort Cards in a JIRA Kanban Backlog (not a next-gen project) - e.g. by priority?
2. Can the backlog layout be customised or is it only determined by the columns you have in the Kanban board?

Hello Sorcha,

JIRA Cloud already has a project template for Bug tracking where you can use filters to list your bugs. You can create it by:

- Navigate to projects > Create new Project

- Select to create a Classic project > Click change template:

- Select bug tracking and create your project

Let us know if there's anything missing for your team in this template.

About your other questions:

 

1 - Yes, you can perform the steps below to edit the sort of your board:

- Navigate to your board > Click on the three dots button at the top right corner (...) > Board settings

- In the General tab, click Edit filter query

- Add the following parameter at the end of the query:

Order by Priority ASC

P.S: Use ASC to configure the order to be ascendant or DESC to be descendant

2 - Can you specify what customization you are meaning? 

- If you are talking about the issues returned in the backlog, you can define it by mapping its status in the backlog column of the board at the board settings > Columns

- If you are talking about the fields available on the backlog cards, you can edit it at the Board settings > Card Layout
