Project key - Import failure

Question

Hi,

I created a new project, with a new Project key.

I am importing a file in CSV and it  does not work. Have i missed something in the set up?

i believe it is the project key as nothing else has been changed. previously the imports were working fine.

the error below,

Hello Aftab,

Next-gen is a new project template with less and simpler features than the Classic project templates of JIRA. It was built to provide a simpler tool for those customers who felt overwhelmed by the complexity of the Classic projects in JIRA.

That been said, JIRA next-gen uses a different set of Custom field, Screens. etc.

Since CSV import functionality does not recognize Next-gen Custom fields (Check the bug mentioned in the last answer), you can not map custom fields in your CSV import when importing to a Next-gen project.

Remove the custom fields from your CSV file and the import should be work just fine for the Next-gen project.

Hi @Petter Gonçalves

Thank you for your response.

apologies, I was away last week. yes, had a look and it is a next gen project. created a it service desk project and the import worked.

Can I ask what is a next gen project and how do I make my import work for this project?

Petter Gonçalves · Answer

Hello Aftab,

There are some errors similar to the one you are informing when importing CSV files mapping next-gen custom fields, as you can see in the bug reported below:

- CSV import will fail if Next-gen custom field is mapped

Can you please confirm if you are importing a next-gen project?

If that's not the case, can you provide us the fields you are importing in your CSV file?

If possible, can you provide us the Entire CSV file but hiding the confidential information you are importing?

Let us know how it goes.
