Doubt in the use of Jira

Question

Hello! In the company that I work, the use of Jira is a little different and I'm having some difficulty. All company use the software and each area have just one project (for example: "IT project" is the name of a project, "Marketing projects" is another one, etc). Inside the project, there are tasks (used like projects of the area) and in the task there are subtasks. My problem is to manage the projects while they are created as "tasks". Is it possible? My feel is that is not the best use of the software. Thank you in advance.

That could be a valid way of representing what you're doing.   For most, it probably is not.  On the most part, people will use a Jira project to represent a collection of tasks that should be considered together.  This might be because they need to work the same way, the same team will work on them, they represent a product or system, and so-on.

There's no solid one "best" way to use Jira and its project/issue/sub-task break-down, it all very much depends on what you're doing and why.
