Create a card to other board from a specific board

Laurent Lacoste September 13, 2023

Hi,

I would like to create this automation :

  • from board A from any card
  • add a button
  • when clicking this button
  • create a new card on a specific list to board B
  • but be able to type the title I want
  • then when I save and I close this card

or

  • from board A from any card
  • add a button
  • when clicking this button
  • create a new card on a specific list to board B
  • title has to be completed automatically from a field
  • then when I save
  • the card is closed
  • then the new created card on board B is immediately opened to be able to modify details

is it possible?

THanks

L.

Hi Laurent!

It's possible to create a button to copy a card from BoardA to a list on BoardB and automatically add a card name you can specify when creating the button.

Currently, it is not possible to type the title you want in BoardB when you click the button (you can open, edit, and close the card name manually after the card is created). Same thing to the second idea, "new created card on board B is immediately opened to be able to modify details." Automation doesn't have triggers to open/close a card automatically.

That said, I did some testing here, and you can try a button automation similar to the one below. It will create a card from board A to B and automatically add the card name you specify on the trigger.

Example:
create a new card with title "Test" in list "To do" on board "TEST01"
CardButton.png

You need to select the board first to load the list names from that board you want.

If you want the new card to have the same name as the card you are triggering the button,  you can use the variable {cardname} in the "card with title" field.

Hope that helps you! Any concerns let us know!
