Updated workflow status is NOT reflected automatically in a saved automation rule

Dayong Wang

As a Jira admin, I configured an automation rule based on task transition to a specific status. The automation worked as expected. Then I updated the related workflow and renamed the status. The automation didn't work and I realised the status change done in workflow is not reflected in the automation rule. I have to update the automation rule manually.

Not sure whether I missed something, or it is a desired feature not yet implemented.

Hi @Dayong Wang

Welcome to our Community.

You're correct. Whenever we rename the statuses, we need to check the Transition issue acitons in jira automation rules to see if the changed status is impacted or not. Otherwise, the automaiton will not execute successfully and notify that error to someone configured in that automation rule.

Thanks,
