I've just updated my password but the app doesn't let me in with a message saying I don't have access to my xxxx.atlassian.net, xxx being my user id.

I took a closer look at your account, I can see your account is the billing contact of a single Atlassian Cloud site. However that account is not the site-admin. As such, it's not guaranteed that the billing contact would also have a user account on that site. I think what has happened here is that you might also have a second Atlassian Account, this other account is using a gmail address.
Could you open an incognito session in your browser, and then sign in to https://id.atlassian.com using those gmail credentials? From there you should be able to visit the cloud site in question and you should have site-admin level access to that site.

Anything with .atlassian.net, should be your Atlassian Instance and not your email, I believe to login you should be using your organization or personal Email to which access was given.
