Jira Dashboards:

  1. How can I move a widget built in Dashboard A, to Dashboard B?
  2. Can a built widget within a dashboard be copied and reused within the same dashboard, or copied and pasted into a different dashboard?

Thank you.

Hi @Michael Rooks,

No. But I am not sure if it would bring you major benefits if it were possible. A couple of things that may help with your overall workflow of designing dashboards:

  • It is possible to copy an entire dashboard. This will include all gadgets and configuration if the original dashboard and help you create new dashboards rather quickly based on some sort of template.
  • Most dashboard gadgets can be configured in under 60 minutes. Usually, you add an empty gadget to a dashboard and then select a saved filter to display data through it. If you want to copy an existing gadget with exactly the same data from another dashboard, all you need to know is which gadget it is and what filter it is using. With that information, it should be up and running in no time on your new dashboard.

Hope this helps!

@Michael Rooks

I know you already have an answer, but the Custom Charts for Jira plugin provides the ability to export the configuration of one of their gadgets and import it into a different gadget on the same (or a different) dashboard.

Full disclosure:  I have not affiliation with the vendor for Custom Charts, but I really like it a lot.
