Hi all,
I've been asked to look into the feasibility of restricting the creation of Atlassian cloud sites to a select few, possibly to most users, but I’m not sure if this is possible. Here’s what I’d like to know:
Can we actually stop certain users from setting up new cloud sites, or is new site creation open to all? I assume that having a verified domain with managed users would be a requirement.
If we can set this up, what steps need to be taken?
Any information would be much appreciated, thanks!
Hello @Rob Horan
If you are on an Enterprise plan it is possible to block site creation for managed accounts. Refer to
https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/update-product-request-settings/
If you are not on an Enterprise plan it is not possible, but there is an open change request about that here:
Thank you - I found that ticket afterward, and Enterprise was not explicitly mentioned - though there is a vaguely written comment that I suppose technically states its possible, and other comments confirm this but need to be manually expanded to view. However, without reading through all of the comments in detail, I got the impression from the description that this was not possible at all. ID-7697 should really be updated to reflect the possibility in Enterprise.
Now, my scheming brain wants to know if its possible to circumvent this by signing up for a new product with a personal address and then inviting the business address in as a site/org admin after its been created...
@Trudy Claspill - you have a comment on that ticket that says Why is this still considered unresolved when this article says in Enterprise plans you can block sign up for new products under managed accounts?
Because not everyone has Enterprise cash :)
Not everyone has budget for Premium.
