Is it possible to pin or globally favorite a Confluence document within our JIRA sprint board?

1. Is there a place in JIRA that we can pin key Confluence documents, like the side panel or the sprint board?
2. Related to question above, JIRA has the mechanism to Star (Favorite) certain items. Is there any kind of global favorite setting?

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

There is not an option to pin a Confluence link within a Board/Active Sprints tab. You can add a Confluence link to the Shortcuts tab for a Space. Refer to

Can you provide more information about the the functionality you are seeking when you say "global favorite setting" and how that is different than use the Star option?

You could add links in the Application Navigator, https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/create-links-in-the-application-navigator/ 

Favouriting is a personal action, this is not globally managed. This is based on the user.
