Inheritance field values to child work items

Question

Hi,

is it possible to inheritance field values of a work type to their child work items?

For example:

If I will create an epos and enter a value to a field 'xy' I would like that this value will be transfered to the same field 'xy' of the child feature or rather of the sub-task after creation of the child work item.

You can achieve this via automation, but Jira natively doesn't have that opportunity.

You can built automation like this:

Trigger: Field Edited, Issue Create (Depends on your case)
Conditions: (Again, depends on your case)

If issue type = Story (or Task).

If it has an Epic link (use JQL condition: “Epic Link” is not EMPTY).

Action:
Edit issue field --> Choose field xy, copy from trigger issue or set via smart value.
