How to include commas in the alt param of the image macro?

I'm wondering if there is a way to escape commas when they are included within the alt param to the image macro in Jira? Example,

!image-2018-10-02-17-03-51-061.png|alt="Screenshot of the Manage Interests progress indicator. There are three steps - select job role, choose topics, and related interests. Choose Topics is the current step."! 

The backslash escape character (\) doesn't work.

The only workaround I've found is to replace the commas with their HTML entity value, in this case ,, which works, but is cumbersome because it requires the editor to remember the entity code to use.

This problem is still occurring. We'll use the cumbersome entity workaround, but an actual fix is important for our team. Thanks
