Can we add comments of the project in the confluence table?

Vinit Tiwari April 23, 2024

I have a confluence table and I want to add the comments present in the confluence table for the better understanding.

Is it possible to do so?
And if not can you please explain the reason why we can't do this?

Welcome to the community @Vinit Tiwari

There is an option in confluence to add the inline comments. Let me explain:

  1. On the table that you are using, make sure that you are in the edit mode
  2. You need to highlight the text within the row and then select the Comment option
  3. As an outcome, you will see the comment shown on the right side of the screen

   2.                        Highlighting the text where the Comment option is being shown

  3.                     The right side appears where the comment is being made

4.                 As the outcome, comment will be shown. Every highlighted text will be link to the comment that was being made, and you will be able to directly reference the comment from the highlighted text.

Thanks for the reply, but I think my question was not clear.
I want to display comments of the task/epic/story that are present in the Jira project,
Comments made by the team members in the epic, I want those to be listed in the confluence table if it is possible

You can use the Jira issues macro, when you type / and then choose the Jira issues. There are two versions: Newer one and the legacy one that is based on the JQL queries.

When you do this you would need to select your project, filter between the issue types that you have mentioned, and when this is done, you will get the generated table which CANNOT be edited, except adding the columns.

To see the Comment column, you need to click on Configure columns:

Make sure your issues indeed have the comments within them. Sync the macro and try to see if it works.

There is no comment column option in the configure columns. can you please provide a details path and way to do so?

Sure! Do you see the Configure columns option? When you click on this option, you will get a dropdown of available columns that you can add, and the Comment needs to be there.

@marc  Hello, can you assist here, since I am having the same issue of seeing the comments in the column, using the Jira issue macro?

Thanks.
