I'd like to understand if I can use group initiatives or initiatives in Jira's timeline view?

Hello,

Welcome to Community :)

Jira timeline view only all supports issues that are of the type Epic and below them. To be able to work with initiatives you would have you advanced roadmaps( Jira plans).

Please check below articles

https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/advanced-roadmaps/overview#what-are-advanced-roadmaps

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/plan-and-view-cross-project-work-with-advanced-roadmaps/

Thank You,

Prachi

Hello, @Erik Sorenson ! Welcome to the Atlassian Community.

If you’re using the Advanced Roadmaps/Plans timeline, you can set up Initiatives as a level above Epics. Once that’s done, they’ll show up in the timeline and you can group or filter issues by them. However, If you’re on the standard Jira timeline (seen from a project), it only supports Epics and the issues under them, so Initiatives won’t show up there.
