My company has an urgent requirement for Asset Management, and the Data Manager Open Beta looks to be just the thing. It meets a lot of requirements we'll have to invest energy into solutioning, but the timing and it being in Beta is an issue. Any advice or experience on adopting a product on Open Beta please? We're on a JSM Cloud Premium license if that helps for context.
@Paul Mercer as Marc says,
Open Beta means the last phase of testing before becoming GA (General Available).
So while they will still tweak things, the fundamentals should be there. The big thing with (Open) Beta is that you might have less official support as they will handle it as a Beta product.
As this is a Major product/app you can be sure it'll stay around and get to GA but it pretty much means they are opening testing to a larger group before the last step of making it a true production ready tool.
As a sidenote, keep in mind that one of the major functionalities which is native import from Data Manager towards Assets is not yet available. So you can import in to Data Manager at the moment but moving the data to Assets will still be a manual process (export CSV/Import CSV)
Hi @Paul Mercer
Open Beta means that anyone can use the beat features made by Atlassian, but it's still not production ready and could be changed.
So initially you can test with the beat features, but not use it in production projects as the functionality can change.
