Using automation rules to move an issue to a different project?

Hello,

Working on creating forms and rules for a ticketing system in my environment. Currently have all tickets submitted through specific forms be sent into one Project, currently used as a ticketing triage if you will. Would like to know if there is a way to move these tickets from the "triage" project directly to a different project. I notice there is a "Move issue to board", and there is an option in there that lets me select the board I want to send a particular set of issues too, does this mean they get moved into that project in which this board is a part of?

Thanks!

Hi Bassel,

This functionality is more meant for Jira Software than Service Management. It's meant to move from the backlog to the board, or the reverse, not to move projects.

Moving involves a lot of moving parts and selections and can't be automated as far as I know. Depending on which project it was going to and from it would have many different requirements.

What you could try instead is to clone the issue to a new project and either close the current one right away, or if you'd like to wait until the other one is finished you could link the tickets when creating the clone, and create another automation to close it when the new ticket is closed via automation.

Hope this helps.
