Hello,
What are the key parameters that are considered while migrating projects from JSM to Jira software, also do my data gets affected while migration.
Thanks in advance!
Hi Abhishek - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
The main things are if you have any custom fields that you want to migrate values for and the current context is only for the JSM project. You would need to create the new Jira Software project and add that project to the Context.
Also, if you have Components on the JSM project - you need to create them in the new Jira Software project before migrating.
Hey John,
Noted! however, I was looking for any documentation that I can refer to work on the migration task, do let me know if there is any.
Thanks,
Abhishek

It’s pretty straightforward - it’s just a Move function. Move one or two tickets to the new project and see if it all looks good.

Hi @ABHISHEK GANGULY ,
Greetings of the Day.
They are different project types and JSM has specific JSM features which Jira does not have.
You will lose SLAs, request participants, request types, source channel, comment visibility.
Rest, all the global features will be present in Jira Core.

Hey Sravan,
As per business requirements we are moving to the software for tracking the development, enhancement, bug fixing rather than using the ITSM only for service desk request and issue tracking.
Thus, wanted to check about the KBAs for the migration.
Thank you!

Hey Sravan,
On the note of losing few KBAs, we can still go ahead with the migration?
Thanks,
Abhishek
