Dropdown fields from SQL Database

Question

Hi,

I was wondering if someone ever tried to link a dropdown field and the values would come from outside of Jira. More specifically, the values would come from a SQL database. I was think Assets but then how do I keep those assets updated ?

Has someone ever encountered this use case ?

This can be implemented using a addon - Power Database Fields from App Fire. You can write scripts on the backend that connect to the data base and show the values when the field is loaded on the form.
