I've been searching, and I give up, I yield to the community.
Is there a way to get an input field for approvers under the approvals section when viewing an issue as an agent? This is literally the same exact input field as you can do with Assignee section for an issue, except instead, assigning an approver. Where would I go to modify the view of the below screenshot? Everywhere I would think it would be, it's not (project level screens, Jira's screens, etc... they just show the list of fields, but I can't really find where to modify the layout).
You actually don't get it under there. You need to add your custom field that is driving the approval onto your screen. In the screen shot below my "approvers" field is what is driving the approval section. If I change that field, it will change who the approver is.
Oops, I didn't see this reply until just now. I think I already understand that the field is being driven by that specific field name... what I'm wondering is if I can change the way that field is input/defined. Currently, the approver field is modifiable if I edit the ticket (click edit button, input approver into the "Approvers" field). Then, that changes the information in the Approvers field in the view screen. I get that, that makes normal sense.
What I'm wanting to know is if I can modify the view screen so that I don't have to click "Edit" and edit the ticket, but if I can just click/hover over the approvers name and change it, just like how the "assignee" works. That's all, just trying to cut out the added edit ticket step.

Michael,
You could if there was already a value defined for the Approver. Because there is not a value already in there, you need to go through the edit step. Once there is a value, you can modiy without needing to hit edit.

That's what I thought might be the case as well, but I placed myself in the value as a test, and it's still not editable via that screen. When I hover over, nothing happens (no ability to click/edit/change without entering the "edit" screen).

You need to edit the value ffurhter up where the actual field is. In my case this is the "approvers" field
