Description:

I've encountered an issue with a custom field in Jira. I've created a custom field and assigned a value to it for a task. However, when I create a new subtask for that task, the custom field value doesn't carry over to the subtask. I would like the custom field value in subtasks to be the same as the parent task. How can I achieve this?

Details:

  • I'm using Jira in English.
  • I've created a custom field, but the value I assign to it in the parent task is not automatically applied to the subtasks.
  • I've looked for the "Apply to sub-tasks" option in the custom field settings but couldn't find it.

I would appreciate any guidance on how to ensure that the custom field value is consistent between the parent task and its subtasks. Thank you for your assistance!

Hello Resul,

You can use Jira Automation to copy custom field value from parent to sub-task.

I've used Assignee here just for example.

You can set the Trigger Issue created, and condition Issue Type equals Sub-Task.

I hope this solves your problem.
