Summary:
Word Import in Confluence only imports document title; body content missing
Description:
Our team is experiencing an issue with Confluence → Create Page → Templates & Import → Import → Microsoft Word.
As of today, importing a Word document only brings in the document title, but none of the body content. We tested this with Word documents that previously imported successfully, and the body content is no longer being imported.
Our team relies heavily on this feature to build our document repository in Confluence, and each team member uses it 10+ times per day. Since multiple screenshots cannot be pasted into Confluence pages at once, the Word import function is essential to our workflow. If this functionality is broken, it will significantly slow down our documentation process.
Could you please investigate and let us know:
If this is a known issue
If there is a setting change or workaround
Or if a fix is planned
In case this cannot be resolved timely feel free to give our app a try until a fix was published (it has a free trial that should allow you to continue your efforts)
Hi @Deborah Xue I just imported three different word documents and didn't experience the issue you are having. Granted they're not fancy word files either. Do you get any errors when you are importing? There are existing issues with imports if there are many images CONFCLOUD-76949 , or the pages are considered 'long' CONFCLOUD-81110 .
If you create a simple word doc, does that import? There are other issues reported on Atlassian's Jira Site with importing tables, lists, headings and other things.
Have you tried another PC or another browser? Does it make a difference if a different user is trying it? Is it a docx or doc file? Does it have attachments in it? Just trying to eliminate some possible causes. If you can narrow down the cause, your system administrator with your Premium License can always create a work item with Atlassian Support to get their input. If you can narrow down a cause, and you see an open issue, please vote for and watch it for updates. You could also report back the number and others can add their vote to it as well.
Hope that helps.

Hi Dan, thanks for the reply!
I tried simple word document with one line of text, no formatting, no image, and it didn't import. I don't think Confluence import doc, we were importing docx files.
Everyone in the team (~6 people) tried multiple files, simple ones and ones with images (and the old ones that we successfully imported for the past month), and no luck.
Tried different browsers. Still no luck.
I will work with admin to create a ticket. ;)
