SpaceSync Questions : failure to push pages and strange error messages

Kassandra Peterson October 7, 2024

Hello, I'm using spacesync to seamlessly update to multiple confluence spaces. My sync works normally for the most part, but occassionally a page will give an error failed to sync because of powerpoint, attachments, etc. The only problem is there is no powerpoint or attachment in the file that is being pushed. Effectively this error is being thrown from files that were in the page, but were deleted and never published. It's like the confluence page is "sticky" and keeps some sort of memory in the ether somewhere causing the sync to fail despite those files being deleted and not visible to users. Any help appreciated as I cannot sync certain pages no matter how hard I try.

Hi @Kassandra Peterson ,

I've seen something similar happen before with sync tools like SpaceSync. Even if an attachment was deleted from the page, Confluence may still keep metadata or unpublished draft versions linked to it. That can sometimes confuse the sync process.

A few things that might help:

  • Try publishing the page explicitly before syncing, even if no changes were made.
  • Check if there are any unpublished drafts or old versions under Page History and clean those up.
  • You could also try copying the content into a fresh new page and syncing that instead — it usually works around any hidden “sticky” state.

Hope that helps a bit!
