Active Directory \ LDAP Authentication

Hello, I am very new to Atlassian products and I've inherited an infrastructure that use many of the products:

Confluense

Crowd

Jira

BitBucket

Bamboo

There is AD / LDAP authentication setup, where do I find the config for this, reason being it must be using the default domain administrator account as when I disable this account logon's stop working, ideally I want to use a dedicated service account and get the admin account disabled.

Can you point me in the right direction.

Glad you've solved this problem.

By the way, in this article the similar situation is described and there's also another solution to it. May be it could have worked in your case also.

It's always a good practice to have your local admin account. External directories are not so reliable.

I have a Crowd Server Directory Name but it says 'You cannot edit this directory because you are logged in through it, please log in as a locally authenticating user to edit it.'

I don't think I have a local account...

In this case you should still be able to create an internal user, grant him Jira Administration rights, log-in with this account and manage Crowd Server Directory.

Great, I can now Edit my Directory Name, although there does not seem to be any LDAP settings and no reference to the domain administrator account?

The steps is as follows..

  1. Choose the cog icon then choose General Configuration
  2. Click 'User Directories' in the left-hand panel.

please have a look at this article for more information.

Hi!

The setting you're looking for is located here:

settings.jpg  > User Management > User Directories

There you'll find a list of directories connected. You can add a new directory or edit an existing one.

Hope this helps.

P.S. Haven't configured LDAP connection yet, so can't be more specific, sorry.
