How Can I Create a Group Restricted to a Single Confluence Space or Jira Project?

Hi all,

I’m trying to organise permissions for a Confluence space and/or Jira project, and I’d like to know if it’s possible to create a user group that is only associated with a specific space (in Confluence) or project (in Jira).

For example:

  • In Confluence, I want a group that has access to only one space and doesn’t appear in global groups for other spaces.
  • In Jira, I’m hoping to create a group or role that’s limited to a specific project without impacting other projects.

From what I understand, groups seem to be global, but I was wondering if there’s a workaround or best practice for this scenario.

If I understand your question here, the answer is yes. you can create a group and then only give that group access to the space you are intending them to have access to.

I do wonder what the use case for this is, however. Managing groups can get to be a bit much when you have a lot of them, and there may be an easier way to go about acheiving the goal that you have here.
