Editing Parent and Child pages at the same time

I have a table of information that is included in both the parent page as well as the child pages.  To eliminate duplicate effort, is there a way to update the table simultaneously on both the parent and child pages? Or is the only option to update each page at a time?  As of now, I have to update each page separately when I need to make an update.

HI @Stephanie Hansen and welcome to the Community.

Yes - using an Excerpt and Insert Excerpt macro.

On the parent page, use Excerpt and put the table in the macro.

On the child page, use the Insert Excerpt macro and configure it to display the excerpt from the parent page.

This way, every time you update the table on the parent page, child page will update automatically.

(works the other way 'round too, Excerpt on the child page, Insert on the parent page.

By the way, you can bring it to a new level by using a Include Page macro, which allows you to drop the entire page into another one - say that you have a procedure that is the same for 10 processes.

Content re-use is fun and a great way to save both your time and effort.

Thank you @Kristian Klima ! Reviewing the macro articles. Is there a way to insert a macro into an existing table? Right now, when I test adding a new macro I cannot apply it to an existing table.

Create an Excerpt macro first, then copy the table and paste it into the macro.

Like this.

Tip - copy and paste the table, save (Update) the page, and if everything's OK, edit the page again and remove the original table.
