Confluence Editor has been lagging. How can I fix this?

Every click within a new Confluence Editor takes 5-15 seconds for any action to happen. I have been experiencing this issue on different devices.

Hi, @Anastasia Simonovich

I don't see any incidents reported on the Atlassian status page, so the issue is likely not on their end.
The problem might be with your internet connection. Have you tried switching to a different network? For example, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa.
If you're using a VPN, that could also interfere with the connection — try disabling it temporarily to see if that resolves the issue.

Switching to mobile data helps for small-sized pages. Editing big pages is still a problem.

Editing large pages in Confluence can be challenging, especially when they contain many elements like tables, text sections, images, and JQL queries.
It's normal for performance to lag during editing, as even small changes can trigger a complete re-rendering of the page structure.
To improve responsiveness, I recommend splitting the content into several smaller pages. This reduces load time, minimizes lag, and makes collaboration more efficient. You can still link the pages together for easy navigation, add them under one parent page.

Hi @Anastasia Simonovich ,

I haven't experienced this myself, but there have been a couple of reports related to some 'smaller issues' when it comes to end user experience in Confluece > one example here.

As recommended, it would probably be best to monitor the official Confluence Statuspage and if the issue persists, reach out to Support team for them to take a look 👀

Cheers,
Tobi
