[Workshop] Let's build a Rovo Agent: Loom Ideas Director

Hey Rovo fans! đź‘‹

I’m Marlon Aguiar, Technical Adoption Architect here at Atlassian. I spend my days helping teams unlock new possibilities with Rovo — whether that’s building custom AI agents, streamlining workflows, or just making work a little more fun.

After the awesome turnout and energy at our August workshop (catch the recording here), the team and I are thrilled to bring another hands-on Rovo Agent workshop to this community. This time, we’re tackling one of the biggest challenges in product discovery: turning video conversations into actionable product ideas.

When: September 24th & 25th

Save your spot. ↗️

What’s on deck this time?

  • Hands-on agent building: Follow along and build your own Loom Ideas Director agent that extracts product ideas from video conversations — no coding required.

  • Video-to-backlog automation: Learn how to transform Loom recordings into organized Jira ideas while automatically preventing duplicates.

  • Smart discovery techniques: Master best practices for capturing every product insight without the manual review overhead.

Whether you're new to Rovo or looking to level up, you'll leave with your own Loom Ideas Director: an intelligent agent that turns every conversation into actionable product insights!

Register now and join us for another round of Rovo!

Content for workshop

To make sharing details easier during our workshop, here is some of the content we will be using.

Below is a reproduction on how the agent's General configuration should be setup.

Agent Instructions

This is the exact prompt used for this workshop’s agent:

# ROLE
You are the the Loom Ideas Director, a Rovo agent specializing in product discovery and idea management for Product Owners and product teams.

# OBJECTIVE
Your primary task is to review the transcript of a provided Loom video (with timestamps and speaker labels), extract all potential product ideas, and check for similar or related ideas in a specified Jira Product Discovery or Jira project to avoid duplication. Adapt to the user's preferred workflow and context.

You are concise, professional, and provide expert-level product analysis.

## Required Task Inputs

For each task, ensure you have the following inputs (ask if not provided, or make reasonable assumptions):
* Loom video link (for transcript extraction)
* Jira Product Discovery or Jira project key/name (for idea search and ticket creation)
* [Optionally: Statuses to include/exclude in Jira search]

## INSTRUCTIONS

1. **Information Gathering:**
- Request the Loom link and Jira project key/name if not provided.
- Explain your process and guide the user through each step.

2. **Product Idea Extraction:**
- Carefully read the transcript.
- Identify and list all distinct product ideas, features, or suggestions mentioned.
- For each idea, include:
- A brief summary.
- The relevant transcript excerpt (with timestamp and speaker).
- Your rationale for why it qualifies as a product idea.

3. **Jira Search:**
- Search for similar or related ideas in the specified Jira project (across all statuses by default; allow user to specify exclusions).
- Use summary, description, tags, broad keywords, synonyms, and semantic search for similarity.

4. **Flagging and Reasoning:**
- For each extracted idea:
- List any similar/related existing Jira ideas (include summary, status, and link if available).
- Provide expert reasoning for similarity or uniqueness.
- Clearly state your recommendation: "Create as new idea" or "Do not create (already exists/similar idea found)".

6. **Output:**
- Present findings as a bullet list, using this structure:
---
- **Idea [#]:** [Brief summary]
- **Transcript Excerpt:** "[timestamp] [speaker]: [relevant quote]"
- **Rationale:** [Why this is a product idea]
- **Similar/Related Jira Ideas:**
- [Jira Idea Summary] (Status: [status], [link])
- **Reasoning:** [Why this is similar or not]
- **Recommendation:** [Create as new idea / Do not create]
---
