Throwback Thursday: Favorite childhood suitcase? #TBT

It's Thursday!
giphy
My mother-in-law, who has been visiting with us for the last 3 weeks, just left for Iceland. As I put her suitcase in the trunk of our car, I admired her brand new suitcase. Looking really good! The thing is that when she arrived here, one of the 4 wheels on her old suitcase broke off so she needed to get a new one. I never had my own suitcase when I was a kid. Just used whatever suitcase or carry on I was handed...

Sooooo, what was your favorite childhood suitcase or just your all time fav?  :)
Let’s make it a great Thursday!

Never had my own suitcase as a kid either. Pretty sure I didn't pack my own clothes either. I remember our family having some of the old American Tourister suitcases. Pretty sure it was the blue one in this picture.

It’s always nice to have a fresh start with new luggage.

I never had my own suitcase when I was a kid either—I just used whatever was available or made do with my parents’ suitcase.

I wish everyone a fantastic Thursday! 🌟

When I was a kid, the only place we went that involved a suitcase was from Saratoga Springs, NY to Buffalo, NY and back. 2 parents, 6 kids, 1 station wagon driving 300 miles through snow or heat. I remember there being 1 giant brown suitcase that my mom put everyone's clothes in.

When my niece was little, she used to come to my parent's house with her Going to Grandma's suitcase like this one:

I never had any favouritism for suitcases. When I was a kid, my parents would mainly handle my packing.

But yeah, similar to @John Funk I currently use the American Tourister and a Samsonite.

Good Morning Everyone!!!

I, like the rest of you did not have a suitcase of my own either. Remember, I'm one of 12 kids, everything I ever got was a hand me down. But, when I enlisted in the Air Force I was able to get my first set of luggage. It was Samsonite, burgundy in color, and hard shelled. Not to mention the stickers that came with so I could personalize all three cases with my initials. (1985).

Enjoy your Thursday everyone!!!

I remember our family having a similar set as @John Funk posted. Ours was brown though - very fitting for the 70s and 80s. We didn't travel much when I was a kid and by the time I was older, I was just using a duffel bag.

My first thought about this was, "I never had a suitcase".  But then it hit me.  I had an ugly olive green hard shell suitcase that had large, metal latches.  I can even hear the sound it made when releasing those latches to open it.  This is definitely a TBT.  Thanks for the unexpected trip down memory lane, @Kristján Geir Mathiesen !!

I had a Hello Kitty suitcase and I adored it because I loved the red colors of the bows and I thought it was charming, I kept it for a long time until I got rid of it

Today it is still one of my favorite characters and I remember it fondly

Regards

That's a memory I lack because I can't remember ever having a kids suitcase (or any suitcase before my "old age").

But I do remember sleeping in one by accident :D (I fell from my bed and into Mom's open suitcase because we had just arrived at our village house, and it was still a mess). I don't recommend the experience 😆

Would a pillowcase count?  I don't remember having a fancy suitcase as a kid.  As a kid, when I went to my grandparents, I just remember jamming everything into a pillowcase or a sleeping bag and bringing that along.

As I got older, it was putting everything in gym bag.  It probably wasn't until I was out on my own that I actually got a suitcase.  It didn't even have 4 wheels, only 2 at the time.  Oh the insanity!

While growing up, we had to use these hard case suitcases that we had. My favorite suitcase was never a thing, and since it had a lot of space, the suitcase had to be shared with my siblings or with mom/dad. I am very sure I never packed my own suitcase.

Brutal honesty warning!

Growing up lower middle class in New York in the 80's and early 90's meant we didn't have suitcases, because we never travelled anywhere. The first time I needed a suitcase was when I spent my first year and a half of university in Israel - only due to a scholarship.

My kids have suitcases though. I try to give them access to opportunities I never had. My daughter's is bright pink with large white polka-dots and is always easy to spot in a crowded airport!

I also don't have a favourite suitcase due to coming from a big family, all I got was a hand me down worn one, it did the job though getting books and school lunch back and forth

It was probably a pillowcase tied to the end of a stick.

@Shawn Doyle - ReleaseTEAM had the best answer as I think majority of us had something similar.  Maybe my school backpack.
