Last week was Chinese New Year and I spent the most relaxing week of the year with my family.

I returned to my hometown Nanjing on the first day of the Chinese New Year. In the following week, I went back to the places when I was a child, which left me with beautiful childhood memories.

When was the last time you went back to your hometown and what fond memories do you have of your hometown?

From top to bottom, the pictures are

  • Xinan street
  • Pearl Spring
  • Pearl Spring Great Wall
  • Pukou Riverside Park
  • Confucius Temple
  • Gan Xi's Former Residence

Have you ever been to any of these places? Welcome to travel to Nanjing!

@Ollie Guan - Love these shots!

I still haven't been to the Great Wall yet...

I agree with @Dave Liao those shots are absolutely stunning!  I have not been able to make my way to China, but it looks fantastic.

I actually moved back to my hometown this past summer after having been away for close to 20 years.  It was amazing to see how many things had changed and how some of the things are exactly the way we left them.  One example is a local park called Storybook Gardens, where we have enjoyed being able to see our kids experience it the same way I did at their age.

@Ollie Guan  - Thanks for sharing the awesome photos! I still have a brother and two sisters in my hometown so I make it back every couple of years or so. It's a very small town in Middle Tennessee, so not a lot of photos to share. But lots of good memories of living there and having fun with friends growing up.

I haven’t been to China yet, but it’s definitely on my travel list!

Last month, I visited my hometown, and being there always brings a sense of peace and happiness. It’s a refreshing escape from the chaos of daily life.

I spent quality time with my grandparents and family, sharing stories, laughter, and home-cooked meals. Being with them brought a sense of warmth and comfort, making every moment special.

It's been a good few years since I went back home; 15 give or take a few months.  But since my hometown (Auckland, New Zealand) is 24 hours flying time plus all the other time needed to travel it's not a quick trip!

Last time I was there was for my Great Uncle's 100th birthday.

Beautiful pictures, @Ollie Guan

It's probably been 5 years since I visited my hometown. It's funny to go by the house and yard that always seemed big enough and see how small they look now. Last year, my sister looked up and found that the house we bought for $19,600 in 1969 recently sold for $429,000! The pictures showed it has been updated somewhat, but not that much!

My family moved across the state a few years after I left my hometown to join the military.  I have never had a reason to go back.  I have a lot of fond memories growing up in that small farm town.

I drove thru it 2 years ago while I was visiting New England, but I didn't stop.  Didn't look like it had changed much in the almost 40 years since I left.  There was an HS reunion I went back for around 2016, but I didn't stay more than a day.
