Zapier rate limit exceeded - triggered by Trello card position changing

Mike Hong February 14, 2024
Hello Community,
When I move a card to the top of a list in Trello my "Any Activity" Zap in Zapier is getting flood with "Rate Limit Exceeded" errors because the list has a lot of cards and they are all being triggered from the card position changing.

I've tried using different triggers but I can't find a reasonable way to cover all the triggers I need (changes in labels, custom fields, native fields, members, lists). I basically need to keep a Google Sheet in sync with Trello and card position isn't relevant to me.

Is there a way to not trigger my Zap if the only change was the card position?

Hi Mike!

Zapier has a dedicated page explaining some of the common issues some users could face when using any integration with Trello. On this page, they suggest the following if you start experiencing this issue:

If you see an error like this, if you're able to have fewer items trigger at once that will help. Also, adjusting your zap so that it uses fewer items that result in extra API calls, like due dates and checklist items, can help avoid that error.

You can find more details about some of the common issues with Trello on Zapier here: https://zapier.com/help/doc/common-problems-trello.

About your question:

Is there a way to not trigger my Zap if the only change was the card position?
Zapier is a 3rd-party Power-up Power-Up that isn't developed or managed by us. I'd recommend reaching out to their support, as they should be able to help you with this.
Hope that helps! :)
