Undoing Actions on a Specific Card Without Altering Other Most Recent Changes On Other Cards?

Kelvin Valdes January 26, 2024

Hello, I realized I made a mistake and accidentally replaces a card description with that of another's.

I realized this now, but I do not know when I made that change. And since I have worked on over a dozen other cards in the past few weeks.

To try and undo all of that would be a significant loss of information by using the undo function you have on your forums.

Is there any way I can do the most recent changes on that once specific card?

Hi Kelvin!

Do you know which card it was? Because with card descriptions, Trello does keep a receipt of all the edited changes made there. If you open your card in the browser, you can add a .json at the end of it's URL. This is a shortcut to export this card in this format. Another approach is to click the Share button then select "Export JSON".

You can then save this JSON file and when you look into it, look for the "desc" property or column to look for the previous changes.

To make sense of Trello's JSON export:

If you don't know which card you accidentally made those changes, you can do a board export and see the recent card changes from there. Here's information on exporting data from Trello

Let me know how you go with this but let me know if you have any other questions!

I instantly found the edits, thank you! This was super helpful.

I looked for the "desc" changes, then the text that was wrong,

then the text I had right before the change and crossed reference what I was missing.

Thank you!
