Is there a way to message or tag a user in our Google Chat Space using automations?

I would like to add an Action in our board that allows Trello to Tag a specific person in our chat when triggered by the automation. I noticed that there's option for Slack in Automations but couldn't find an option to add Google Chat. Thank you

Hey Reeve Avila,

Vishaal here with Trello Support—thanks for reaching out!

We don't have any direct automation feature to tag members with Google Chat, However, there are a few workaround methods you might consider to achieve a similar outcome:

  • Services like Zapier or Integromat might provide a bridge between Trello and Google Chat. These platforms allow you to create custom workflows (Zaps or Scenarios) where an action in Trello, such as moving a card or updating a card, can trigger a message in Google Chat. This message can include mentioning a specific person if the platform supports that level of integration with Google Chat.
  • If you're comfortable with APIs, you could set up a Trello webhook to listen for specific actions (like card updates, comments, etc.) and use the Google Chat API to post messages in a room or direct message. This method would require expertise and understanding of both the Trello and Google Chat APIs.
  • While not a direct tagging in Google Chat, Trello’s built-in Butler automation tool allows for sending email notifications based on triggers. If the person you want to tag has notifications set up for Google Chat through email, this can be a makeshift way to alert them about a Trello action.

Do let me know if you've more questions. I'd be happy to help.
