Butler rule deleting checked items in a checklist

I'm having trouble with a rule in Butler. My command is the following:

when the "DELETE COMPLETED ITEMS" item is checked in a checklist named "to do", remove all the complete items from checklist "to do", and add item "DELETE COMPLETED ITEMS" to checklist "to do"  

The problem is that Butler is acting quite unreliable. Sometimes, checking "DELETE COMPLETED ITEMS" does not do anything at all, sometimes it deletes only a few of the checked items in the list, sometimes it works as intended.

Could you suggest a workaround for this?
