Anyone has the same experience ? On the desktop app, the file opens but on iOS app there is https:// prefix is added to the attachment URL hence you get an IP address error. Anyone knows how to resolve this. Trello seems to open link in Chrome and not the default browser on the phone. Thanks

@milynnus for me it opens the Drive app, but I don't use the Chrome browser, I know that it's Safari settings on iOS that determine which app is used to open a given URL, perhaps that's still the case even when you're using Chrome, and you need to update your settings in Safari.

@Eric Linnert i read in an Aug 4 post that you are from the iOS mobile team and looking into a similar problem but for OneDrive. https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Trello-questions/Links-to-attachements-not-working-on-Trello-iOS/qaq-p/1447075

I tried it on 3 iPhones. The same card with attachment to a Google  file will have a IP address issue because of this https://https//docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfT9IP........

You see the double https://   This happens when Google Drive app is installed. Can you please help? Thanks.

@milynnus sorry for the delay. I've been chatting with the iOS engineers and it seems that this came up recently in the community: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Trello-questions/Open-Trello-link-in-iOS-app/qaq-p/1383189#M26635

Also, there is this support page that covers an identical issue: https://help.trello.com/article/1221-open-trello-links-in-the-ios-app

Hope that helps!

@Eric Linnert  The problem is specific to links to documents in Google Drive. Links to Trello cards and boards is not the issue. So the articles you set does not help. Simply put with Google document links, Trello and Google Drive app cannot co-exist on the iPhone. Have not tested on ipad.

@milynnus sorry for not specifying. The thread I linked previously addresses opening Trello links in another app, but the procedure is the same for any iOS app (in your case Google Drive). So, basically it's the same issue though you can be sure of this by trying to open a Drive link from another app.

Anyways, the support page has steps that should solve the problem for you (but instead swap out Trello links for Drive):

  1. Copy a T̶r̶e̶l̶l̶o̶ Drive link to the clipboard of the iOS device.

  2. Open the native iOS Notes app that is included with the iOS devices and create a new note.

  3. Paste the T̶r̶e̶l̶l̶o̶ Drive link into the note. Then tap and hold on the link until the preview and menu appears and select "Open in T̶r̶e̶l̶l̶o̶ Drive"

You should now be able to open Drive links from Trello and other apps! Please let me know if you're still having trouble. Thanks!

@Eric Linnert  Let me suggest to you that you have either not read my post or try it. My point is that opening a link aka attachment on iOS Trello app is not the problem even if it is a link to a google document. It is when Google Drive App is also an app on the iPhone the Only attachment aka link to Google Drive gets this.
