I wasn't sure what to expect from using covers on cards, but adding a very large image that more than doubled the size of most of my cards wasn't it. I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a background, semitransparent perhaps, with the card content on top of that. I understand that would limit the scope of the images that you could use, but to be honest I don't see the point of adding a cover in their present form.
I don't know if this is possible or not, but it would also be useful (if the above request is implemented) to automatically apply covers/backgrounds based on labels. Of course, many cards have multiple lables so you would have to specify either "use cover based on first label" or similar. That way all the cards with (e.g.) the primary label "Meeting" would automatically get the cover/background associated with that label.
For now, I don't see any benefit of using covers.
